Hawaii vs. UC Davis

This is a simple blog to discuss all things HAWAII volleyball.

I love Cindy's blog but since she will be on hiatus for who knows how long, I thought this would be the perfect outlet for all you die-hard fans to gather and discuss what we eat, breathe and sleep.

NEXT UP: Hawaii (15-0, 8-0 BW) vs. UC Davis (10-10, 4-3 BW)

  1. it will be hard to keep Kastl and Olevao off the court when Croson returns. Mita is soo inconsistent it drives me crazy

    1. Yes!

      Olevao is pure athlete (who will fade as a FR never-the-less against larger opponents); Kastl played well in this particular match (she seemingly is picking up the slack with passing/hitting in the absence of Croson).

      Mita is the BIG (?) as you've pointed out...her inconsistency can't be blamed upon the passing, as of late, but I suspect that it has more to do with being too showy. I rather that she concentrate on being of service (i.e. choice delivery) vs. craving the limelight. Her recognition WILL come as she offers-up/exalts identification to those teammates around her.
      *Nothing against Uiato but IF this team is to go all the way in the NC2As, prodigious Mita will have to blaze as catalyst for their journey.

  3. More observation(s):

    *Maeda appears to dig more aptly from the left back rather than the right.

    **Lelepali is being used sparingly, but IMO she shouldn't be used at all. Her substitution slows the game down and is a moot point to begin with.

    ***Hartong continues to impress at OH1 although for more balanced combinations on the court, Dave continuing MUST--I suspect that it will be an ongoing situation in fosterment/development--offer justification for the evolving three OHs on the court tapped at a time. Unique, yes, but maybe too unorthodoxed even for his own team???

    (Teams usually distinguish between 2-OHs and 1-OPP)

    :-)

    1. Yeah.

      I remember when they (BYU HI) almost beat them in 1996 also. Robyn and Angelica were Sr.s that year and it was a close five set thriller.

      The BYU/Fresno Pacific match will be streamed as well.
